Skin & Nylon Shoot with Samantha Alexandra
This photo-shoot was arranged with a model local to Sheffield, Samantha Alexandra. I was inspired by a recent photo-book I had seen by Michael Zelbel called Skin and Nylon. This eBook showcased a number of images that he took of this concept with his wife Emily and their friend. At the end of the eBook, Michael Zelbel reveals his set-up to the achieve these images.
I modified Michael Zelbel’s set-up to fit with the equipment I currently own. I shot my images with a 40x40cm softbox positioned at roughly 45 degrees to the model. It was occasionally changed from the left to the right hand side of the camera. No light was used on the background, and generally the ambient light was blocked out due to a combination of a low ISO, 200, and high shutter speed, 1/200.
The equipment I used to achieve the results were:
- Camera: Canon 20D
- Lens: Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 II, Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS
- Flashes: 430EX with 40x40cm softbox , 580EX II as Master
