“What is Art Nude?” by Auburn Rose

An interesting article, written by Auburn Rose on her blog, to read from the model’s perspective about what it means to them, why they do it, why they enjoy it, and what makes am image become an ‘Art’ Nude as opposed to just a nude image.

Boudoir Check-list: 5 Outfits to Wear

South Yorkshire Boudoir Photographer Jon Howson photographs Olga in a little solid colour dress and knee high socks

Boudoir Check-list: 5 Outfits to Wear

  1. Little black dress (or any solid colour) – This is to get some pictures you can show your family and friends. You can go commando right away if you want.
  2. T-shirt and boy shorts (solid or lacy) – This is also perfect for the shyer bunch. I’ll make you show me a little shoulder and maybe pretend to take it off.
  3. Partner’s shirt/clothing or favourite item – This is one of those things that is to your discretion. He loves football? You in his jersey and nothing underneath. He wears a suit? A nice shirt and tie.
  4. Of course, lingerie – Need I say more?
  5. Super soft sweater or warp with nothing underneath. The bigger and softer the better.

Whist we are on the subject of outfits for your boudoir session, I will also two quick check-lists for accessories and grooming.

Accessories

  1. Newish high heeled shoes – Preferably with clean soles as they may also end up in the images.
  2. Stockings or knee high sexy socks
  3. Necklaces

Grooming

  1. Shave/Wax one or two days before
  2. Manicure/Pedicure (even a home one) – Hands and feet can be an important part of the composition of an image.
  3. Moisturise before the session – When you shower in the morning, just pat dry just a bit and the slather on the baby oil. All over. It will absorb, and you’ll be as smooth as a baby’s butt.
  4. Do not wear anything too tight to you boudoir session. The skin takes a bit to go back to normal. You will be able to wear your tight stuff during your boudoir shoot.

What’s the best way to improve my photography?

Laurence Kim suggests that by analysing a single photo per day, you would be able to improve your technical skills. This is done by trying to figure such things as how the image was lit, camera angles, lens used, etc. To see more of the article, please visit Laurence Kim’s original article here.

What other suggestions do you have to improve your photography, either on the creative or technical side?
